Happy New Year Everyone!!!!
I know, I know…It is almost February already! I find hard to believe we have been back from Italy for over 5 months now…and it is even more amazing to realize how much has happened already… which brings me to this post.
I like to believe we had a fantastic 2007! And quite honestly, I fully expected our summer in Italy to be the culminating event of the year. For it was very special! …But wouldn’t you know?!?… Bigger and more exciting news was yet to come.
For those who haven’t heard it yet, The Calabria Family is growing. We are expecting another baby boy to arrive this summer – around late June or early July. What a surprise! As you can imagine, Ashley and I were both a bit stunned at first. But I’m very glad to report that we are all very excited now — especially the kids.
Given our history, we waited a couple of months to let Lorenzo and Chloe in on the big news. Fortunately, this past December, we were relieved to find out that both Ashley and “Little Baby Jr.” (as the kids call him) are doing very well. “It is an ideal pregnancy”, we were told. So, after some peace of mind, the kids were given a baby brother as a special Christmas gift.
I cannot begin to tell you how sweet and loving they were when given the news. They were so genuinely happy!! So much so, they have certainly helped me get over the initial surprise and get excited too. I love my kids!! It was also a lot of fun to see how “intuitively aware” they were about the new baby. They have made comments about having another sibling before, but only every once in a while. However, in the past couple of months, it has been quite remarkable how many times they have wished they had a baby brother or a baby sister. We all have intuition, but theirs are never very far way.
So there it is folks! If we thought last summer was full of excitement, the summer of 2008 will also certainly be a life changing one.
