Summer is almost over, and I’m falling way behind on my posts…I will try to catch up in the next few days.
Starting with the Spring Soccer Season and the “Every Goal Saves a Life” challenge…the kids did not disappoint us! The Gladiators had another undefeated season, scoring a total of 75 goals:
Game #1: Gladiators 15 [...]

I found out the other day that Fox Soccer Channel (FSC) is donating $10 for every goal they broadcast towards the “Every Goal Saves a Life” campaign against Malaria.
After checking the campaign’s web site (http://www.malarianomore.org/), I decided to get involved by challenging the Gladiators – Lorenzo’s soccer team.
At the end of last practice, I explained [...]

It is hard to believe that the Fall Soccer Season has come and gone. Poof!
I’m sorry I didn’t keep the posts up-to-date, for it was a good one. The Gladiators finished another season undefeated, and “our boy”, Lorenzo, was the leading scorer (a.k.a. Golden Boot), scoring 22 goals in 7 matches and doubling the [...]

It’s been already three weeks since The Gladiators played Game #3, and I’m afraid to say the game details are already getting a bit fuzzy. Fortunately, I did post the photos with comments shortly after the match, so one can get a feel for the game by reading the photos’ descriptions.
In a nutshell, we played [...]

I must say that I did expect our team to win our first match. However, I wasn’t so sure about our second match against the YMCA team. And I certainly didn’t expect us to dominate the match with such ease. But remember last season’s posts on “how big” some of the other kids were compared [...]

Only 3 of the 12 players from last season’s undefeated team have returned: Lorenzo, Hunter, and Rylan. The new team is now mostly composed of younger kids who have recently moved up from U8 — the Under 8 league. [...]

This was the last match of the season, and everyone was excited about the possibility of finishing it undefeated. Now, I don’t understand why the AUSA would do this, but we had to face the Gold team for the third time for our final match.
During all the previous matches, in addition to coach Matt [...]

We replayed the AUSA Gold Team — a rematch of our first match of the season. It was certainly not as easy this time around. As expected, we are not the only team that has improved, and they are way more organize now. However, it was not technical skills or speed that made it [...]

Since we were hosting the YMCA-Blue team at our field, I certainly expected this match to have been much easier. It was our hardest test yet. We had to come from behind three times; our team was a bit off; but our players never did give up.
The Y team scored first within a few [...]

The Green team remains undefeated!!! WOW! And they simply keep getting better and better…
We were back at the YMCA playing a team that beat us last year. But this time around, we were clearly much better. Our team really played as team; we controlled most of the possession; and we did a fantastic job [...]
